One Tree Hill: "Screenwriter's Blues"» view comments

This week's episode felt like a classic One Tree Hill thanks to a job well done by director Bethany Joy Galeotti. Lucas finally began casting his movie, and with all of the actors running lines and auditioning, it made me nostalgic for Season 1. Not only were there some funny moments, but also some surprising ones as well, as we were reminded that there's a sweet side to our evil Dan and bad boy Julian.

Within the first five minutes, we faithful viewers got to reminisce as the Haleys and Nathans were being cast. Even the poncho was brought back as Haley told Nathan off for being a dumb jock. Who would've thought back then that they'd be a stable and happily married couple today?

Well that’s been a long time….» view comments

ADAM FW09Well I am clearly not a very good blogger. So much has been happening and I guess I often blogged in my mind, but never wrote it down. Oops. Another fashion show is right around the corner. Crunch time again… It’s been a crazy 6 months. After a great Spring 2009 show (though a hurricane forced a last minute venue change), I went to PV in Paris to begin work on fabrics for the Fall 2009 Show. This season I was inspired by a mix of 40s and 80s… all beginning with this incredible kimono a saw at the flea market outside of Paris.

Rosina dress in yellowRosina dress in yellow
This week’s top pick from the ladies on the floors of our stores comes from Coral Gables. Locals had the chance to pre-order the Rock Goddess collection at a trunk show this past weekend, but what are people wearing right now? The award goes to…the Rosina dress, a new take on the classic wrap.
“The Rosina dress is a perfect fit, we have yet to see someone who doesn’t look good in it.

ARIES
March 20 – April 18
Obviously you can’t ignore confusion, obstacles or others’ well-meaning but negative advice. But you mustn’t allow these to prevent you from at least exploring exciting offers. Discuss every idea in detail, in the process making make it abundantly clear what you’d like to achieve. While there are bound to be numerous changes before anything is settled, in retrospect these conversations will have been pivotal.
TAURUS
April 19 — May 19
Sudden changes in circumstance or seemingly insurmountable dilemmas may seem to bring cherished plans to an end. But if you combine requires patience and a creative approach, you can overcome them. Of even greater significance, seek advice from those who you respect.

BAL HARBOUR BEGINNINGS» view comments

Though our Bal Harbour store officially opened in December, it kicked off the Spring season last night with the grand store opening party. Proceeds from the event went to Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship program. Miami heat was in the air as bold colors, nautical stripes and bright florals dominated the night. We’re forecasting a bright future for our 5th U.S. store.

INAUGURATION: PART III» view comments

In my Inauguration gearIn my Inauguration gear
Tuesday, Inauguration Day!
We wake up early…it is still dark outside and slightly snowing. It promises to be very cold!! I wear leggings, 3 layers of sweaters, a full ski suit, a ski vest, a fur jacket and a huge Russian hat. By 8:30 am we are in the Capitol and thanks to the Speaker of the House, we have amazing seats, right behind the stage. And it is cold!!
Slowly the crowd fills up, and I will never forget the sight of the Mall all the way to the Lincoln Memorial…filled with more than 2 million people.  But the crowd is not scary…it is calm and happy.

Speaking at the Pelosi lunchSpeaking at the Pelosi lunch
Monday is a big day!
It started with a lunch given by the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium. Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett and Jon Bon Jovi performed and the speaker has asked me, little me, to perform as well by introducing her. I am a bit nervous, but so excited and so incredibly honored.

So we decided that juli b subscribers deserve a little something special. Say a $1,500 shopping spree at DVF.com.

No one knows DVF like the women who work in our DVF shops. From New York to Nevada, Los Angeles to La Vida Loca (Coral Gables and Bal Harbour, of course), they have the inside scoop on what’s in store and how it fits. And they also all have their favorite items…
What: The Click Clac Shopper, in tan or white ($600 on DVF.com and in stores)
Why: “We all love this bag!!! It is a perfect bag to go with anything in your wardrobe and because of its size it can easily go from day to evening!!” - DVF Shop New York

Washington MemorialWashington Memorial
I escaped the snow of Connecticut and arrived in Washington DC on Sunday morning. At first it seemed like the city was calm, but walking the National Mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol was just exhilarating…happy people everywhere, everyone had a smile.
Vendors were selling all kinds of irresistible Obama memorabilia…caps, scarves, and buttons, T-shirts. The crowds were going towards the Lincoln Memorial where the concert was happening.

TIMES TO DOS» view comments

We’ve got inauguration fever at DVF. Diane is in DC, we’re all sporting our Obama Love Totes, and we’re even having a pizza party tomorrow to watch the Inauguration. We all have our opinions on what we want to see from the new president, and Diane got to have hers printer in the NY Times this weekend.
From New Yorker’s to Obama - a To-Do List
“Whether you’re an artist, a writer, a designer, whatever, you come to New York to sell things. In a sense, it’s the center of trade. We need to maintain that. When you leave London, Shanghai or Paris and arrive at the airport here, it seems charmingly third world. The streets, too.

STARS WEEK JANUARY 18» view comments

ARIES
March 20 – April 18
Don’t allow others’ worries or practical restrictions to keep you from exploring the amazing ideas or offers now appearing. Explore everything. However, with Mercury still retrograde and this Friday’s eclipse shaking things up, any plans must be regarded as tentative. While this slows your pace now, it also gives you more time to consider how to make the best of these remarkable developments.
TAURUS
April 19 — May 19
The seemingly daily changes in both circumstances and recently made plans are infuriating. And your instincts are telling you to stick with what you know.

FASHION WEEK SCHEDULE» view comments

Fashion is so funny sometimes. The weather outside is freezing, and even though we haven’t even started buying Spring clothes, Fashion Week will begin shortly with the Fall 2009 runways in preparation for next Winter! But if this doesn’t confuse you then let the countdown to Fashion Week begin. DVF will take its usual slot on Sunday night, while the rest of the schedule is filled with familiar and first-time faces.

JUST BACK…BRAZIL» view comments

Brazil evokes images of lively Carnival celebrations, brilliant soccer teams (futebol), bossa nova and samba performances, sensual Brazilians swaying across the sands of Ipanema and Copacabana, and the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.  Beyond these popular images, however, there remains a lot to discover about Brazil.  The ravishing cityscape of Rio, embraced by the gigantic statue of Cristo Redentor strikes you as soon as you arrive in the city.  Rio bursts with energetic cultural life, while wild islands lie just a short boat ride away.  Amazingly nature and urban life coexist undisturbed.
