
As red carpets go, while safe glamour and grown-up ensembles usually dominate the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes are where more fashion risks have historically been taken. Sure, this can yield questionable ensembles such as the poufy tutu with matching ballerina lace-up pumps that Lara Flynn Boyle wore to the 2003 Golden Globes. But at least such attempts make for memorable fashion moments. This year, however, as several actors stepped out in recession-friendly ensembles that were toned down and, often, devoid of big bling, a sea of sameness washed over the Golden Globe red carpet.
